Report: Amazon shuts off sales of Dash buttons

3/1/2019
Amazon is reportedly no longer in the business of selling Dash buttons.

According to CNET,  Amazon will cease sales of Dash buttons. The e-tail giant introduced the connected buttons, which allow customers to automatically reorder the specific product associated with the button at a tap, in 2015.

CNET reports that Amazon will indefinitely support sales with existing Dash buttons. However, it will stop producing new ones due to the dramatic increase in smart devices, such as connected fridges that can automatically reorder food staples when they run low, as well as in voice-activated commerce devices like Amazon’s own Alexa.

In addition, in January 2019, Germany ruled that Amazon does not provide users of Dash buttons with enough information about the prices they pay or products they buy.
